Gerber Facebow - DED®

Gerber Facebow - DED®

(Dynamic Esthetic Diagnostics)

An integral component of the Gerber Medical Diagnostic System. The kinematic and dynamic facebow is a sophisticated analogue instrument for condylography and/or pantography, designed to determine individual parameter values within the patient’s mandible and cranial system.

The Gerber Facebow – DED® is employed to record the sagittal condylar path and to transfer the spatial relationship between the patient’s occlusal plane and the condyles to the Gerber Condylator®.

The most important parts Gerber Facebow – DED® are:

  • Facebow with adjustable arms, permitting both vertical and horizontal adjustment.
  • Retractable writing-point holders, positioned against the marked condylar buccal eminence on the patient’s cheek.
  • Horizontal rods, serving as indicators of the occlusal plane.
  • Facebow stand, designed to support an adjusted or unadjusted Gerber Facebow – DED®. The stand enables the mounting of casts in the Gerber Condylator® in the correct relationship to the temporomandibular joints (TMJs).
  • Esthetic Set A (SNA rod and esthetic indicator assembly), used to attach pointers/indicators to the Gerber Facebow – DED® for identifying reference points of the Camper Plane on the patient’s face, as well as reference points relevant to dental and facial esthetics.
  • Esthetic Set B (pointer, incisal indicator, tragus pointer, snapper), used in conjunction with snappers, the SNA rod, and the esthetic indicator assembly of the Gerber Facebow – DED®, to indicate reference points of the Camper Plane and additional landmarks describing facial and dental esthetics.
