The Gerber® Method is a diagnostic and therapeutic approach based on three of Gerber’s Norms (I. Static-Anatomic Norm, II. Dynamic-Anatomic Norm, III. Neuromuscular Norm) and on the definition of GERBER’S CENTRIC RELATION. It is therefore not merely a philosophy or a concept, but a precisely developed, well-structured, and proven method founded on detailed diagnostics rooted in the anatomy and physiology of the masticatory system.

The Gerber® Method, together with the Gerber® Instrumentarium, forms the GERBER MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM. The uniqueness of the GERBER MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM lies in its ability to diagnose pathologies and restore the proper function of the stomatognathic system. It places no limitations on diagnosis with respect to patient age, missing teeth, type of restorations, or field of specialization. It offers independence in clinical practice—free from licensing restrictions or the need to purchase additional modules.

According to the Gerber Condyle Theory, the GERBER MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM enables biofunctional reconstructions. Biofunctional means ensuring both the stability of the mandibular position and the stability of mandibular function, while respecting the correlation between the structure of the TMJs and occlusion.

In line with Prof. Gerber’s terminology, BIOFUNKCION should be understood as Boundless Integration of Occlusion and Function (in its original German version: BIOfunktional = Bedingungslose Integration von Okklusion und Funktion).

Locks fully down – only hinge mandibular movements are possible. In this position the mounting of the models is carried out as well as the control of occlusion in centric.

Locks fully up – in this position protrusive and back to centric, Bennett, balancing and all intermediary movements can be carried out as in the natural TMJ.

Locks fully forward – with the locks in this position a full envelope of natural mandibular movements is possible including the control of the retrusive movement.
